Now in their 66th year of production, Thunderbird/Formula Boats is still recognized as a premier powerboat builder and an iconic, historic American brand. With roots in performance boats and offshore powerboat racing, these days Formula focuses more on "crossover" style boats, or high performance family-friendly day boats, often with accommodations below. These big bowrider-style boats offer the ideal weekender vessels combining speed, safety, style and performance into a finely-tuned, highly-engineered boat. However, the company has decided it is time to get back into the raging center console market with two new exciting models for the 2023 model year.

Announced at the 2022 Miami International Boat Show and debuting at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this fall, Formula's new center console line is poised to be a major contender in the fishing boat world as well as offering a new versatile family-friendly fishable performance boat. The lineup will start with the 387 Center Console "Fish" (CCF) and the 387 Center Console "Sport" (CCS). Built on Formulaā€™s rich offshore heritage the CCF version will be designed for all out angling, while the CCS model will be more of a flexible all-around boat with fishability and creature comforts.

Both of the new Formula 387 Center Consoles will have a 12-foot beam and can be powered by triple Mercury Verados, triple Mercury Racing 450Rs or twin Mercury Verado 600 outboards. The twin Verado V12s seem to offer perhaps the most exciting package, with a 1,200 horsepower 37-foot center console fishing boat backed by Formula's rich offshore heritage - we're excited to see the performance numbers of this new boat soon and expect them to be impressive, in true Formula style.

For buyer's looking for something a bit more than just the standard fishing boat or day boat. The CCF will have dual 40-gallon livewells, two in deck fish boxes, GEMLUX outriggers, a full-featured tackle station with sink and corian counters plus an aft-facing mezzanine seat. Highly customizable (after all Formula prides itself on retaining the "semi-custom" status through their "Formula Flex" and "Formula Flex My Way" programs) and ready to fish, the boat has a big infused fiberglass hardtop, virtually unlimited color options and vibrant multi-colored LED lights.

For boat buyers who want a bit more emphasis on entertaining and cruising with friends and family, the CCS offers a premier open layout day boat for adventure and pleasure boating. Designed to be seaworthy and dependable she offers comfortable bow seating with a removable table and an aft-deck built around entertaining with a wide fold-down bench seat and an extended swim platform. The helm station will feature twin Garmin or Raymarine 16ā€ widescreen color chartplotters with depth sounder and 1,000W CHIRP B175M transducer, Mercury DTS with 7ā€ SmartCraft VesselView, Mercury Joystick Piloting and Bennett trim tab system.
