Bavaria R40 Coupe: First Look Video
The 2017 Bavaria R40 Coupe follows on the heels of the R40 Flybridge, and brings new options to the table.
If you took note of the Bavaria R40 FlybridgeĀ introduced at last yearās Cannes Boat Show, but you were hoping for a similar yet sportier model, the wait is over. Our European correspondent Alex Smith found the all-new Bavaria R40 Coupe at the Dusseldorf show, and shot this quick First Look Video to give you a look.
Before we go any farther, fellow Americans, please excuse Alex for saying ācoup-aā. Yes, those Brits speak a bit funny, but trust us, when it comes to boats Alex knows his stuff. So we were happy to have his insight when it came to noting the boatās single-level deck, extensive entertaining abilities, and sleeping quarters. What else do you need to know about this boat? For one thing, tall boaters will be happy to learn that the R40 has 6ā5ā headroom in the saloon. Views are panoramic, with windows 360-degrees around. And that massive sunroof in the overhead basically turns the saloon into an open-air cockpit.
The R40 tilts the scales at 20,503 lbs, and is 40ā10ā long and 13ā1ā wide. Weight is kept down but strength in fiberglass parts is retained with the use of vacuum infusion,Ā which in Bavariaās case they call āVacutecā. Bavaria claims that reduces hull weight by 20-percent and cuts construction emissions by 80-percent, which matches up with the latest in vacuum-infusion technology. The pieces-parts are well-constructed, too, with wood parts are protected by six layers of varnish, and hardware like railings and cleats crafted from stainless-steel.
