Boston Whaler 220 Dauntless

"Dauntless" means fearless, and at a modest (but exceedingly solid) 22 feet in length, the newly redesigned 2021 Boston Whaler Dauntless 220 is truly ready to take on the seas. Owners who choose to buy this easy-to-handle, versatile, family friendly center console boat can rest easy, without fear of being swamped by a bigger boat's wave, or an unexpected storm kicking up some rough water.

The Dauntless 220 is an upgrade and full redesign from its mainstay predecessor, as the builder continues on the model's legacy. "Capable and confident" is what Whaler wants captains to feel when they're at the controls. "Shedding notions of what a bay boat looks like", the iconic manufacturer of seaworthy boats wants owners to feel the can "do more" and do it with peace of mind.

So What's In The Redesign?

First, the new Dauntless 220 has more room on her aft deck than the previous year's model. Plus, more freeboard - and as any experienced boater can tell you, that's a comforting thing to have out on the ocean. There's also a bigger fishing area in the aft deck, with smart jump seats that quickly convert to a great casting deck.

Latest Design Features

The bow also really differentiates this boat from prior year models - with a large two person sun lounger and ample storage unit underneath. A 36 volt trolling motor can be integrated into the bow, and there are flush rails on the gunnels that can also be raised for a more classic whaler look.

A nice captain's bench seat flips forward or aft, and has insulated storage below with an optional livewell. At the helm there are optional 9 or 12 inch dual Raymarine screens dual (or single screen and a glovebox). The console has USB charging stations and 12-volt flip switches. Below is a compact storage unit or head with marine toilet that also provides storage and electric panel access.

Power Options

Equipped with a 250 Mercury outboard, she tops out around 50 MPH and cruises around 30. Also available are 225 or 200 outboard engines. Outfitted with power pole, she is ready for wakeboat and ski action. There's an option T-Top soft top or fiberglass hard top with rod holders.

A Strong Mid-Range Center Console Lineup

Whaler has really beefed up their mid-range offering in 2021, with redesigns to the 220 and the 250 Dauntless, giving buyers more options to ensure they get the ideal vessel size, weight and layout for their style of boating. In typical Whaler fashion, both of these models have smart layouts, clever use of space, fishable features (standard fishbox and rod holders with optional trolling motor) and options for customization. They both have a large bow lounger and redesigned, sleeker hull. Despite being less than 26 feet long, both of these models have many of the features and amenities found onboard the larger Boston Whaler center console models.
