Last month at the Miami International Boat Show 2022, Boston Whaler successfully launched the all-new 360 Outrage center console boat. She has been designed from the keel up to maximize space and functionality and delivers the performance, durability, safety and comfort expected in a Boston Whaler. Stepping onboard, she just feels larger than her predecessor, the 350 Outrage. Here we take a look at some of the highlights of this new model from Whaler and her key performance numbers and physical specifications.

Power Options For The 360 Outrage


Triple 300 horsepower Mercury outboards come standard on the 360 Outrage, with more power available, including triple 450-hp Mercury FourStrokes, or the coveted Mercury 600-HP V12 Verado Engines. As many know, the 600-HP Verados are the first V12 outboards on the market with key innovative features that set them apart from the pack of today's best outboard engines, including a stationary power head that allows the engines to be mounted much closer together (only the lower unit turns) and a 2-speed transmission (built by ZF, the German company that also built the lower units for Seven Marine’s beastly outboards). Shifts are incredibly smooth thanks to the V12’s multi-plate wet clutch instead of the usual cone clutch, which produces a pronounced clunk when shifting a two-speed transmission.

When mated to the Whaler 360 Outrage - or her bigger sister the 2023 Whaler 420 outrage - these engines offer some of the smoothest and quietest performance available on the water, while packing a hefty punch from her 7.6L power plant. Notably, the V12 Verado is designed for heavy lifting rather than sprinting making her a good match for both models, plus she runs on 87 octane regular gas whereas outboards like the 400R need 91 octane gas to make full power. The 360 Outrage is also available with Fathom e-Power, an energy-efficient alternative to fuel-powered generators allowing for a longer, quieter and more eco-friendly day on the water.

The Boston Whaler 360 Outrage has a maximum speed of around 62 MPH when rigged with twin 600-HP Mercury V12 Verados. Her optimum cruising speed for most efficient fuel burn underway would be between 30-35 MPH depending on load and sea state. She can hop on plane in a quick 4 seconds with a light load and twin 600's, but any power option will get her planing quickly.

The 360 Outrage offers great handling and the dexterity to navigate tight turns with relative ease, especially without the tower. As with any vessel, the tower adds more height to her center of gravity but she is still able to take tight curves with minimal lean for her size and height.

Aft Deck Features


The aft deck offers a wide open casting area with padded bolsters around the gunnels, a 55-gallon recirculating livewell, two in-deck fish boxes and 24 rod holders, plus toerails. There is are both raw water and freshwater washdown systems with a 45-gallon freshwater storage capacity. The aft deck also has a dive door standard, making for easy access at the dock and for pulling in fish alongside the vessel. There's an optional transom prep station, summer kitchen set up, portside and/or starboard refrigerator/freezer units, fold down transom bench (or trolling seats) and the deck offers easy access to the bilge and mechanical room down below.

Main Helm Controls


Beyond the optioned up Mercury V12 engines, the 360 Outrage offers a full-suite of modern controls and an intuitive helm station with twin large Simrad Displays and Mercury Joystick Piloting plus an optional Seakeeper gyrostabilizer to helm tame the waves. The hardtop over the helm control station creates easy access to the upper station, with a ladder placed at the centerline. Further features include the Fathom generator replacement system, CZone digital switching and Navico electronics.

Cockpit Layout


The new 360 Outrage has also been configured to offer more room for improved fishability, simple access to the front and maximum storage. This Outrage's cockpit is now more customizable, with a Summer Kitchen option, refined seating and convertible usage seating. Cutting-edge technology is evident throughout, from the intuitive helm station to the available lithium-ion battery system. More personalized cockpit offers options for a grill and Corian countertop. Improved storage throughout the boat, resulting in more useable bow storage, a more organized cabin, and better designated sleeping space in the V-berth.

Bow Area


Reconfigured bow seating affords more space and easier access to the windlass/anchor and improved ability to fish from the bow. V-seating and a large sun lounger with armrests and drink holders make the bow a great place to entertain, plus there's a removable table for dining al fresca in the forward section of the boat. A macerated fish box is a nice touch up front - and of course, there are recessed speakers for pumping the tunes throughout the vessel.
